Two days ago, one of our barn cats was attacked by an unknown animal. She suffered a broken leg, severe lacerations and had a puncture that narrowly missed her lung. We found her when we went out for our morning feeding and she was calling for us from the pasture. Even through all of this and pain I can’t imagine, when we picked her up she began purring and allowed us to hold her.

We took her to the vet and now we are in need of help to cover her medical bills. 

Please donate if you are able! This cat is very special and deserved our help. She is such a fighter that we couldn’t give up on her.

Very cute 13 year old gelding is in need of foster care or preferably an adoptive home. He is about 15 hands but isn’t sound, so will have to be a companion horse. He suffers from lameness on his front feet. He is pasture sound but is not suitable to be ridden. If you have the space for this charming fellow, please contact us. He is ready to decorate someone’s pasture!

Getting his feet trimmed. We’ve learned through trial and error, trimming horses with this deformity can be tricky. What we do is we hoist them up on the front end as you can see here. We don’t lift them off the ground, but instead we just give them something to ‘lay down’ into when we life their good leg so they don’t have to put any weight on their bad limbs.

Intrepid is now enjoying his new digs alongside two other horses that were adopted previously from MHHR.

Thanks goes to everyone for their love, concern, and support. Remember, he is not the first to need your support and he sadly won’t be the last.

It takes all of us to keep the gates of Meadow Haven open to the horses in need.

A happy ending for a very deserving horse.
