MHHR welcomes our newest addition. As you can see he needs some groceries, but he is a total sweetheart who doesn’t let his leg slow him down. He’s got a long road ahead of him, but he’s in a good place now.
Getting his feet trimmed. We’ve learned through trial and error, trimming horses with this deformity can be tricky. What we do is we hoist them up on the front end as you can see here. We don’t lift them off the ground, but instead we just give them something to ‘lay down’ into when we life their good leg so they don’t have to put any weight on their bad limbs.

God Bless you folks. I saw the starving horse with the broke leg on the news tonight and decided to see if there were any stories on him with more info. I found your website. I did go to your Amazon wish list and purchased some items for you. However, I am not sure I did it right. No confirmationand nothing ended up in my Amazon cart–a little confusing. So, let me know if I did not do it right. I would like to do something to assist. Can his leg be repaired? People can be so cruel.
If you don’t find someone to adopt this horse when he is ready to be adopted let me know.
We actually signed him over to another rescue who has more experience with these types of situations and can better help Vago get the help he needs.
Where did Vago go?
Vago was recently relocated to a facility that is more set up to care for him and his special needs.
