You get the pleasure of owning a virtual horse while it is going through the process of rehabilitation and training. On the average, we spend between $1,500 and $2,000 on every horse that enters our gates before it is ready to adopt.
Your gift to the virtual horse program helps us prepare a horse for its final adoption, which usually happens six months to a year after we first bring it through our gates and helps us support the horses throughout our organization.
We have horses in rehab, resident horses and those that available for adoption. Each horse requires a minimum standard of care, which includes the following:
- Farrier (every 6-8 weeks) – $25
- Equine dentist (every 6-12 months) – $80
- Wormer (every 6-9 weeks) – Between $4 to $12
- Bag of feed – $12 (lasts 3-5 days)
- Fly Spray (bottle) – $12 a bottle
- 1 dose of antibiotic – $6, including needle and syringe
- 1 dose of pain medicine: Bute – $2, Banamine – about $7
- Vaccines (Annual EEE, WNV, etc.) – $24
- Annual Coggins – $25
